Emma Fenton

Editor-in-Chief

Emma is a Senior at Patrick Henry College majoring in American Politics and Policy. She hopes to attend law school after college at a university in the Virginia area.  Once finishing school, Emma would like to use her skills as a lawyer by serving the growing Hispanic community in the Virginia and D.C. areas. She is from the historic town of Franklin, Tennessee, adjacent to Nashville. She has been a member of the John Jay Journal for five semesters now, and she was published back in 2022. Besides her love for international issues, she is a member of the chorale, where she pursues her passion for music.

Logan Crockett

Logan Crockett is a sophomore at Patrick Henry College who is planning to major in International Politics and Policy.  Originally from southern Missouri, Logan enjoys spending time outdoors and playing music with family and friends.  He loves travelling and exploring the history and culture of peoples around the globe.  Logan hopes to work in international ministry after college.

Gabi Sakai

Gabi Sakai is a senior at Patrick Henry College studying Government with a focus on International Politics and Policy. She has particular interest in international Christian missions and humanitarian aid and is currently employed at Cornerstone Chapel's Global Outreach office. She previously served as an assistant research editor on Patrick Henry College's George Wythe Review.

Howard Newman

Howard Newman is a Senior at Patrick Henry College majoring in American Politics and Policy.  He will be attending law School at the University of Florida starting in fall 2024.  He is from Orlando, Florida, and loves to learn languages, read books, and play the Cello and Piano.

Esther Jin

Esther Jin is a sophomore IPP major from Chicago, Illinois. The daughter of two immigrants from China, she has grown up straddling two cultures and cultivating a love for other nations that she wants to channel into her career. She began working on the John Jay Journal as a content editor this year and hopes to contribute more to the major in the future!  

James Hodson

Head Research Editor

James Hodson is a senior Government Major at Patrick Henry College. He grew up in Maine and received his high school education at home. When not reading a book, he spent his time outside hiking and playing sports. He serves as the Head Research Editor for the John Jay Journal of International Affairs.

Amelia Ruiz

Amelia Ruiz is a sophomore at Patrick Henry College and is studying International Politics & Policy. Assistant Research Editor. She is involved with several clubs and groups on Patrick Henry College's campus such as the string orchestra, the women's basketball team, and the IJM club. After graduation, her plan is to join an organization that focuses on fighting human trafficking globally.

Jeanne Marie Du Plessis

Jeanne-Marie, class of '26, is majoring in Government: International Politics & Policy and minoring in Music at Patrick Henry College. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, participating in various music groups and ensembles, and studying the history, cultures, and current affairs of southern Africa and Europe. With roots overseas, Jeanne-Marie hopes to use her experience and education after college to serve people in ministry or diplomacy. 

Lynsy Jerrard

Communications Director

Lynsy Jerrard is a Senior at Patrick Henry College studying American Politics and Policy. She is from Dover, Pennsylvania. Lynsy is currently involved in the John Jay Journal, and has participated in PHC’s Civic Debate and Mock Trial. Following graduation, she will pursue a career in direct mail fundraising.
